TRADE NAME:

DISCLAIMER:

The majority of repairs require the removal of the case. Under these circumstances new “front/rear end papers” and “fly leaf's” will be “tipped in” (glued).

There are many factors beyond the control of the Book Surgeon that can affect the final outcome for example natural wear and tear, discolouration, unavailability of original materials, how and where a book has been stored.

Replacement cloth can occasionally result in a mismatch however the Book Surgeon will try to limit this where possible.

The Book Surgeon cannot be held responsible for any consequential damage, depreciation or any (in) direct other losses or costs.

The “handing over” of a book is giving the Book Surgeon permission to commence work. It shall be assumed prior independent advice has been taken; note the cooling off period below.

LABELING:

A small discrete label shall be attached (typically) to the inside (rear) end paper; unless otherwise instructed.

GUARANTEE:

All work is guaranteed for 12 months unless related to natural defects; mismatch; wear and tear; abuse or incorrect use/storage. All claims must be submitted with 30 days of delivery/collection with all goods returned. The Book Surgeons view on any claim is final.

NEW BOOKS:

“Perfect Bound” books are not guaranteed to stay open so sewn pages are recommended. A choice of " Full Bound", "Half Bound" and "Quarter Bound" is available.

The spine shall be “Hollow Back” and square.  “Tight Back”, rounded and “Raised Bands” are available.

Cases shall be hardback, made from 3 mm mill board and have square corners. Rounded corners, yapp edges and soft backs are available.

The client shall ensure pre-supplied printed pages are correctly ordered/orientated; the grain runs parallel to the spine, with sufficient margin to allow trimming and the reading of all pages.

The client shall retain copies of all pages so in the very unlikely event an unforeseen complication arises; a page can be replaced.

The “front/rear end papers” and “fly leaf’s” shall be “tipped in” (including sewn books), in “best match” weight and colour. The direction of the grain and weight of pre-supplied (printed) paper can influence the final outcome ("rippling" etc).

A university approved specification shall be provided for Thesis.
